京都には名勝と認定された美しい庭園が沢山ありますが、今日はその一つをご紹介します。
有名な南禅寺の塔頭である金地院（こんちいん）は、小堀遠州作の枯山水庭園が国の特別名勝に
指定されています。
訪問したのは、五月のとある日。新緑の木々の葉や苔が鮮やかで美しく輝いていました。
とても静かな庭園を散策していくと、本堂の手前の池につがいのカモがいました。
とても仲良くかわいらしい姿に心が和みました。特別拝観で申し込むと方丈（本堂）の中に入り、
ガイドさんの案内で重要文化財の作品や襖絵、お茶室等を説明していただけます。
樹齢400年の落葉樹が植わる木「鶴亀の庭」を眺めながら、江戸時代の光景を想像しつつゆったりと
過ごすことができました。
観光シーズンの京都のお寺は大変混雑しますが、穴場中の穴場と言われる金地院では
ゆったりと過ごすことができそうです。
There are many beautiful gardens in Kyoto that have been recognized as scenic beauty,
and today I would like to introduce one of them.
Konchiin, a pagoda of the famous Nanzenji Temple, has a dry landscape garden created by Enshu Kobori,
which has been designated as a special place of scenic beauty by the government.
I visited on a certain day in May. The leaves and moss of the fresh green trees were bright and beautiful.
As I strolled through the very quiet garden, I saw a pair of ducks in the pond in front of the main hall.
I was heartened by their cute and friendly appearance.
If you sign up for a special visit, you can enter the Hojo (main hall) and be guided by a guide
who will explain about the important cultural properties, sliding door paintings, and the tea ceremony room.
I was able to spend some time relaxing and imagining the scene in the Edo period while looking at the
“Garden of Cranes and Turtles” with its 400-year-old deciduous trees.
Temples in Kyoto are very crowded during the tourist season, but you will be able to spend a relaxing time
at Konchiin,
which is said to be one of the best secret places to visit.
