京都は大学の町と呼ばれているのをご存知でしょうか？
国公立と私立の大学と短大を合わせて40校近く市内に点在しています。
京都市自体が「大学のまち」「学生のまち」として京都が更に発展していくために、
様々な取組を推進してきているのです。
昨年、お嬢様が京都の大学を受験されるので家族で京都に来られほとりに滞在しつつ、
お嬢様とお父様がオープンキャンパスに行かれて、
お母様と妹さんはその間に京都観光をされたというお客様がおられました。
そんな受験生のおられるお客様に是非お薦めしたい場所があります。
京都市のひだり上にある北野天満宮です。
菅原道真が祀られた「天神さん」と呼ばれる北野天満宮は受験生にとっての
”最強で最後の強い味方” なのです。
現在梅が満開で梅園「花の庭」は見頃を迎えているので、観光バスで沢山の観光客の方が来られていますが、
来春の合格に向けて合格祈願に行かれる他府県からの受験生も沢山参拝に来られています。
絵馬掛所は山盛りの絵馬が掛けられて膨れ上がり、文字通り絵馬の山の様です。
境内茶店では豊臣秀吉が好んだ長五郎餅を頂くことができます。
お店がオープンするのは梅の季節の週末や25日の天神さんの日などと限られていますが、
もし行かれた日に開いていれば400年以上前から続く老舗のお餅を是非味わってみてください。
天神さんでの祈願後には、周辺の散策はいかがでしょうか？
京都には花街が5つありますが、実はその一つ『上七軒』は北野天満宮のすぐ東側にあります。
ほとりのある宮川町とも雰囲気が似て、京都らしくとても素敵な雰囲気です。
通りに溶け込むように洋食屋さんやケーキ屋さんお土産屋さんもあり、
どのお店にも入ってみたい気持ちになりました。
合格祈願だけでなく、疫病退散にも御利益がある北野天満宮。周辺の散策も含めておススメいたします！
ちなみに前述のそのお嬢様は、先日高校の卒業旅行にお友達同士でほとりに泊まりに来てくださいました。

Have you ever heard that Kyoto is called a university town?
There are nearly 40 public and private universities and colleges scattered throughout the city.
Last year, we welcomed a family whose daughter was taking an entrance exam for a university in Kyoto.
We would like to recommend a shrine to those who have students preparing for entrance exams.
It is Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, located in the upper left of Kyoto City. Kitano-Tenmangu Shrine,
called “Tenjin-san”, is the “strongest and the last strong ally” for students preparing for entrance exams.
The plum blossoms are now in full bloom and the plum garden “Hana-no-niwa” is at its best,
therefor many tourists are coming by sightseeing bus,
and many students from other prefectures are also visiting the shrine to pray for success in the next spring.
The ema (votive picture tablet) hanging area was literally a mountain of ema.
At the tea store in the precincts of the shrine, visitors can have Chogoro mochi (rice cakes),
which were favored by Hideyoshi Toyotomi.
The store is only open on weekends during the plum season and on Tenjin-san day on the 25th,
but if it is open on the day you visit, you should definitely try the rice cakes
from a long-established shop that has been in business for over 400 years.
After praying at Tenjin-san, how about taking a walk around the neighbor area?
There are five Hanamachi, geisha quarters in Kyoto, and one of them,
“Kami Shichiken” is actually located just east of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.
The atmosphere is similar to that of Miyagawa-cho, our hotel area and has a very nice Kyoto-like atmosphere.
There are also nice restaurants and a cake shop that blend in with the street,
and I felt like going into every one of them.
By the way, the aforementioned girl came to stay at the hotel with her friends on her high school graduation trip.
All of our staffs were very happy to welcome her, again.
