京都に住み、あちこちの神社へと参拝をしていると珍しい神様が祀ってあり、驚くことがあります。
スポーツの神様、お菓子の神様、刀の神様、足腰の神様、色々な神様がいらっしゃいます。
その中でも驚いたのが電気の神様です。
十三詣りで有名な嵐山の法輪寺を参拝した時に、階段の途中に鳥居があり立ち寄ってみました。
すると電電宮という、電気・電波の神様「電電明神」を祀った神社だったのです。
電力、電機、電波、電子、IT企業がこの電電宮を厚くサポートされている様子が伺えます。
インターネット、携帯電話などあまりにも当たり前になった毎日。
もし1時間でも停電になってしまったら身動きが取れない、仕事ができない…
そんなことを想像すらしたくなくなってきました。
今まで電気の神様に感謝するということを思いもしませんでしたが、
時々は電電明神様に遙拝で感謝を届けようと思ったのでした。
法輪寺の境内からは、街を遠くまで見渡せる広々とした展望台があります。開放感120％です！
嵐山渡月橋からは徒歩10分ほどで行けますので、
人ごみに疲れた後は電気の神様に感謝するという散策コースはいかがでしょうか。
Living in Kyoto and visiting shrines here and there, I am often surprised to find unusual deities enshrined in them. Such as a god of sports, a god of sweets, a god of swords, a god of legs and feet, and many other gods. The one that surprised me the most was the God of Electricity.
When I visited Horinji Temple in Arashiyama, I noticed a small shrine which is dedicated to the god of electricity and radio waves, called Dendenmiya.
Electric power, electric appliances, radio waves, electronics, and IT companies are supporting this shrine.
The Internet, cell phones, etc. have become all too common in every day life. If the power went out for even an hour, I would be stuck, unable to work…I no longer even want to imagine such a thing. I had never thought of giving thanks to the god of electricity, but I thought I would deliver my thanks to the Denden Myojin-sama from a far-reaching worship.
From the precincts of Horin-ji Temple, there is a spacious observatory from which you can see the city far into the distance. The view is fantastic!
It is only a 10-minute walk from Arashiyama Togetsu-kyo Bridge, so how about a walking course to give thanks to the God of Electricity ?
