ほとりのお客様からはしばしば「建物からしつらえまですべてが心地よかった」
という嬉しいご感想をいただきます。
優しさとセンスの光る “ほとり＝オーナー ″ と思っているコンシェルジュにとって、
ほとりと彼女の事をとても誇らしく感じる瞬間です。
そんな心地よい空間であるほとりでは、オーナーがいつもお客様に合わせてお花を生けてくれています。
ご予約から到着までのお客様とのメールや電話でのやり取りを通してイメージが沸くこともあるし、
ご予約時のほんのわずかな情報でまだ見ぬお客様のイメージを膨らませて生けることもあります。
玄関や床の間に飾られたお花は、お客様だけでなくコンシェルジュの目と心をも
楽しませてくれています。
時に驚きに満ちたお花、思わず微笑んでしまう可愛いお花、上品でさりげないお花、
見た瞬間に「わあ、可愛い！」と声に出さずにはいられないほとりのお花は、
ほとりがより心地の良い空間である為に不可欠な存在なのです。
オーナーは毎月のお稽古でその腕を磨いています。
「お花は一生勉強だわ。」と時に苦戦しながら、
そして先生に叱咤激励されながらお稽古に参加されています。
そんな努力と勉強の積み重ねがあるからこそ、ほとりという空間に似合う和花が生けられていくのです。
先日彼女が通う教室の花会が催され、足を運んでまいりました。
右京区の仁和寺からすぐの旧邸御室。バス停の“仁和寺御室”から会場にたどり着くまでの道を
進むにつれて、京都らしい落ち着いた雰囲気に期待が膨らみます。
旧邸御室という素晴らしい会場にふさわしい数々の作品。上品でもあり、大胆でもあり、
優しくもあり、素朴でもあり、でも美しい。
どれだけ言葉を尽くしても、花の美しさと空間のすばらしさを表現しきれない歯がゆさを感じます。
先生の作品と生徒さん達の作品を見ながら、オーナーが生けてくれるお花の素晴らしさが
この教室から生まれているんだなと感じました。
いつもお花を仕入れるのは、ほとりから近い花重さんです。
祇園、宮川町のお料理屋さん、お茶屋さんにも提供され、生け花の先生や生徒さんも買いに来られる
お花屋さんです。色とりどりのお花は勿論ですが、葉の美しい枝を沢山取り扱っておられます。
花重さんには、お墓参りに行かれるお客様の為に、仏花もお願いすることがあります。
白と緑を基調とした一対のお花を依頼すると、いわゆる仏花とは一線を画した素晴らしい花を
準備してくださりお客様もいつも喜んでくださいます。地元に愛される素敵なお花屋さんなのです。
ほとりにお泊りの際には、是非花重さんのお花とオーナーのセンスの融合をお楽しみください。
Our guests often comment on how comfortable everything was, from the building to the furnishings.
It is a very proud moment for us concierges. We believe that the hotori is the owner herself,
with its kindness and sense of style.
Our owner arranges flowers for our guests before check-in.
Sometimes an image comes to her through our e-mail interaction with the guests
from reservation to arrival, and sometimes she arranges the flowers based on the slightest information
of reservation.
The flowers displayed at the entrance and in the alcove delight the eyes and hearts of the concierge
as well as the guests.
Sometimes her arrangements are full of surprises, sometimes they are cute and make you smile,
sometimes they are elegant and casual, and sometimes they are so pretty that the moment I see them,
I can’t help but say, “Oh, lovely!”.
The owner’s flowers are an indispensable part of making hotori a more comfortable place to be.
The owner has been honing her skills through monthly lessons.
“Flowers are a lifelong study,” she says.
She sometimes struggles with her lessons, and sometimes receives encouragement from her teacher.
It is because of such efforts and study that she is able to arrange Japanese-style flowers that suit the space of hotori.
The other day, I visited a flower exhibition held by the owner’s flower class.
The venue was the Kyutei Omuro , just a short distance from world heritage Ninna-ji Temple.
As I walked along the road from the bus stop to the venue, I was filled with anticipation
at the serene atmosphere typical of Kyoto.
All of the works of flowers are so suitable for the wonderful venue.
They are elegant, bold, gentle, simple, and yet beautiful.
As I looked at the works of the teacher and her students,
I felt that this is where the splendor of the flowers that our owner arranges for hotori comes from.
The owner always buys flowers from Hanaju flower shop, which is located near hotori.
They supply to teahouses, ryotei (Japanese-style restaurants), and restaurants in Gion and Miyagawa-cho.
