たまたまインスタグラムで目に入った陶芸作品がとても気になりました。
美味しそうなイチゴが載ったお皿、でもそのいちごもお皿の一部なのです！
とんでもなく気になり、よくよく見て見ると、丁度お出かけ予定だったエリア内に位置する場所で個展がひらかれています。早速そのギャラリーカフェ好文舎さんをお尋ねしました。
好文舎さんは、一条戻り橋から徒歩5分ほどの閑静な通りにあります。ごく近くには楽美術館があります。歴史ある御所西エリアにふさわしい落ち着いた雰囲気の暖簾をくぐり路地を奥へと入っていくと、いかにも京都らしい町家の入口があります。綺麗に掃き清められた気持ちの良い路地と空間。靴を脱いで「お邪魔します。」と一瞬友達の家にあがるような気持ちになりました。
玄関を上がると、すぐに展示が始まっています。可愛らしいテントウムシとお花のピンバッチや指輪ケースなど目に入り、期待でワクワクしてきました。静物画が立体になったようなリンゴの作品もお洒落です。これらは現在開催されている、前田あかねさんという若手作家さんの作品。
ギャラリーのオーナーの宇野さんが「奥にもありますので、見てくださいね。」と優しくご案内くださいました。
中庭が見える部屋の床の間には、ありました！美味しそうなイチゴが沢山！！
お皿にイチゴが載っていて、クリームまで繊細に陶器で表現されています。なんとも美味しそうで、そしてワクワクするお皿です。お酒が飲めるカップにもいちご、蓋つきの入れ物にもいちご、蓋を開けるといちごの先端が突き抜けて出ている！この発想はどこから出てくるだろうか？と思いながら見ているだけでワクワク気分はＭＡＸです。
奥の部屋にも作品が展示してあります。大きな作品でカラーの花が横たわって花瓶に挿してあり、繊細で近付くのがためらわれ少し遠めに鑑賞させていただきました。
お菓子のカヌレの上に載りつつ、カヌレが載っている真っ白なお皿の作品も魅力的です。
こんなに素敵な作品を作られた前田あかねさんは、普段は学校で美術の先生をされているそう。そして作品を作り、時々個展をされておられるとのこと。
私は蝶々が載っている蓋つきの小物入れを購入しました。これは何かを入れると言うより、愛でるための作品だと感じました。ただ見ているだけでうっとりと幸せ気分になります。作品を手に取った人が幸せになる作品を作られる作家さん、本当に素敵だなと感じました。
ありがたいことに、オーナー宇野さんには展示されている作品の説明をしていただき、また芸術の世界にまつわる話も聞かせてくださいました。芸術系の大学を出て、一本柱になる仕事をしつつ、表現活動もされている作家さん達の実情なども話をきかせてくださいました。現代美術は今生きている時代を一緒に感じることができるという視点を持ちながら、特に若手作家さん達を応援しておられます。特に京都、および周辺（奈良、滋賀など）の作家さんをサポートされておられます。作家さん達を温かい気持ちで見守っておられることがよく伝わってきました。
ギャラリーカフェには、赤ちゃん連れのママさんにもリラックスして来て欲しいというとても優しいカフェです。中庭をながめながら、畳に座りコーヒーを飲みながら過ごすことは、子連れママには特別な贅沢時間です。
私自身、中庭の苔、さざんかのピンクの花や、緑色の枝が出始めた梅の木を見ながら、穏やかなお人柄の宇野さんとお話ししている間にすっかりリラックスして癒されていることに気付きました。とても穏やかなギャラリーカフェ、お寺に行って静かに日本庭園や石庭を見て癒されるように、ここもまさに癒しの空間であることを体感しました。ちなみに好文舎さんの好文（木）とは、中国語の梅だそうですよ。
2月に入ると、また次の企画が始まります。丹波布という着物好きな方にはたまらないグループ展です。素晴らしい作品、素敵な空間、そして静かに温かく作家さんをサポートされる宇野さん。一回目の訪問ですっかりお気に入りのギャラリーになりました。
I recently happened to come across some ceramic works on Instagram that really caught my eye.
One piece in particular stood out: a plate adorned with delicious-looking strawberries — but those strawberries were actually part of the plate itself!
I was absolutely attracted. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that a solo exhibition was being held at a venue in the area I was planning to visit. I decided to visit to the gallery café, Koubunsha.
Koubunsha is located on a quiet street, around a five-minute walk from the Ichijō-modoribashi Bridge. The Raku Museum is very close by. Stepping through the calm, dignified noren curtain, which is fitting for the historic Gosho-nishi area, and walking deeper into the alley, you will find the entrance to a quintessentially Kyoto machiya townhouse. The alleyway and surrounding area are beautifully swept clean and pleasant. After taking off my shoes and saying, ‘Good morning!’, I felt for a moment as though I were entering a friend’s home.
As soon as I step inside, the exhibition begins. Adorable ladybird and flower pin badges, ring cases and other items catch your eye, making your heart flutter with anticipation. The apple pieces, like still life paintings brought to life in 3D, are also very stylish. These are works by a young artist Ms. Akane Maeda, which are currently on display.
The gallery owner, Mr. Uno, kindly showed me around, saying, ‘There’s more in the back, so please take a look.’

The strawberries adorned the plate, and even the cream was rendered in ceramic. It was an incredibly appetizing and thrilling sight. There were strawberries on the sake cups, strawberries in the lidded container and Even in the lidded container, strawberries! When you open the lid, strawberry tips are poking right through! Just looking at it and wondering where this idea came from made my excitement reach MAX.
Works were also displayed in the back room. One large piece featured calla flowers arranged in vases. There were so delicate that I hesitated to approach it.
Another captivating piece featured a pure white plate holding a canelé, with the canelé itself resting on top of it.
Ms. Akane Maeda, the creator of this wonderful piece, works as an art teacher at school. She creates artwork and occasionally holds exhibitions.
I purchased a small, lidded box adorned with a butterfly. I felt that this piece was better suited to admiration than storage. Just looking at it makes me happy. I truly believe that an artist who creates works that bring happiness to their owners is wonderful.
Thankfully, the owner, Mr. Uno, kindly explained the exhibited works to us and shared stories about the art world. He also spoke about the challenges faced by artists who have graduated from art universities, balancing a day job with creative pursuits. Mr. Uno supports young artists on the basis that contemporary art enables us to experience the era in which we live together. He is particularly supportive of artists from Kyoto and the surrounding areas, such as Nara and Shiga. It was clear how warmly he watches over these young artists.
The Gallery Café is a wonderfully welcoming spot where mums with babies can relax. Sitting on tatami mats, sipping coffee and gazing at the courtyard is a real luxury for mums with children.
I personally found myself completely relaxed and soothed while observing the moss, pink camellia blossoms and plum tree beginning to sprout green branches in the courtyard. This incredibly serene gallery café truly felt like a healing space, much like visiting a temple to quietly admire a Japanese garden. Koubun means pram in Chinese, he explained.
As February arrives, the next project begins. It’s a group exhibition featuring Tamba cloth—an absolute must-see for kimono enthusiasts.
Stunning pieces, a wonderful space, and Ms. Uno, who quietly and warmly supports the artists. It became my favorite gallery after just one visit.
