Yoshida Shrine is famous for the Setsubun Festival in Kyoto.
Setsubun (“seasonal division”) is a festival held on February 2, 3 or 4,
one day before the start of spring according to the Japanese lunar calendar.
For many centuries, people have been performing rituals with the purpose of chasing away evil spirits at the start of spring.
Although there is still a mood of self-restraint due to the Covid disaster, it is still very important annual event for people in Kyoto.
It was full of life with many yummy stalls and people just yesterday.
We think it is very important to keep these traditional events held to make us lively and happy.
May this year bring you many blessings!
