四条通り アーケードの飾り Shijo street with Jumbo Chimaki
毎年7月に入ると京都は一気に祇園祭の雰囲気に包まれます。
1日からは種々の関連イベントが執り行われ、四条通りのアーケードには提灯がぶら下がり、
デパ地下には祇園祭にまつわるお菓子が登場し、いよいよ“京都の夏”が来たと実感します。
しかし去年に引き続き今年も山鉾巡行が中止となった為、関連イベントも縮小されひっそりと
執り行われています。
八坂神社の写真は、7月5日の八坂神社でのみやび会御千度です。
例年、祇園甲部の芸・舞妓さん達が芸の上達と無病息災を祈願されるものです。
残念ながら今回は人数も少なく舞妓さんを見かけることはありませんでした。
ところで、祇園祭と言えば粽！笹の葉で作られた厄病・災難除けのお守りです。
京都では料理屋さんや家の玄関に飾られているのをよく見かけます。
長刀鉾の粽は今年はネット販売のみだそうです。
今日13日からは八坂神社の粽の授与が四条寺町の御旅所で始まりました！
今年は四条通りにジャンボサイズのちまきが飾られました。
何でもミニチュアサイズというものは可愛らしく感じるものですが、このジャンボサイズの
ちまきも妙に可愛らしく感じました。
1st of July, series of events that related with Gion Festival start.
And Kyoto people feel the summer of Kyoto has finally arrived.
However, processions of floats (Yamaboko Junko) was cancelled again this year,
and the related events have been scaled back and are being held quietly.
The photo shows the Miyabikai Osendo at Yasaka Shrine on July 5.
This is when the geisha and maiko from Gion Koubu area pray for the improvement of their art
and good health. This year, we couldn’t see any Maiko.
Speaking of the Gion Festival, there is the Chimaki!
It is a charm made of bamboo leaves to ward off bad luck and illness.
In Kyoto, they are displayed at the entrance of restaurants and houses.
This year, jumbo size Chimakis were displayed on Shijo Street.
I always find miniature size of anything cute, but this jumbo size Chimaki was also strangely cute.
