日が暮れるのを待って、宵山さんぽに出かけました。
熱気うずまく前祭りの宵山とは違って、例年後祭りの宵山は落ち着きのある雰囲気。
それでも今年はいつもより多くの人で賑わっていました。
昨年、一昨年はコロナで外出を控えていた観光の方たちも、今年こそはと
山鉾見物と宵山のそぞろ歩きを楽しまれていたようでした。
1966年から2014年まで、祇園祭の巡行は17日の一度にまとめられ、山鉾見物や御朱印集め、
夜店の屋台が楽しめるの宵山も巡行前夜の数日間だけでした。
2014年以降、本来の形に祇園祭に戻すべく「前祭り」「後祭り」に分かれ、宵山も巡行も
1週間空けて二回行われています。
とはいえ、注目度の高い有名な鉾や山は前祭りに多く「祇園祭のメインは17日の巡行」という
認識がまだ色濃いように思います。
屋台が出ないせいか、後祭りの宵山は前祭りに比べて人出も少なく
そぞろ歩く年齢層も高い「大人の宵山」という雰囲気。
「お祭り」ではなく「祇園祭」を楽しみたい、そんなムードがとても好きです。
今年96年ぶりに復活した鷹山はさすがの人だかり。
ピカピカの白木や水引きやタペストリー、そして誇らしげな囃子方のお顔がとても印象的でした。
昼間の熱気が和らぐ夕暮れどき、夏の夜風の涼しさの中で聞く祇園囃子の心地よさ。
感染予防に気を配りつつ、少しだけほろ酔いの宵山散歩を楽しんだ夜でした。
The Gion Festival is held in the summer in the city of Kyoto.
Today, I went for a walk during “Yoiyama” of the Gion Festival.
Yoiyama is a kind of eve before the parade.
Visitors can enjoy viewing the decorations and the sacred objects while walking around the floats lit with lanterns.
Since 1966, the Gion Festival parade has been held only once in July, but since 2014, the parade has been divided into two parts, following the original format.
As the parade is held twice, Yoiyama is also held twice.
They are called “Saki Matsuri” and “Ato Matsuri,” and the types of floats to be unveiled change as well.
It has only been a short time since the festival was divided into two events, and the first festival seems to attract more attention than the second.
That is why a stroll through Yoiyama during the Later Festival is highly recommended.
There are no crowds of people to make you squirm, you can take your time to look around the floats, and the calm atmosphere is rather magical.
It is exceptionally pleasant to walk around at dusk, feeling the cool summer night breeze and listening to the Gion music played by each of the floats.
